Wheat exports increased to their highest level in over three months behind large exports to Japan and Iraq. Corn exports increased as well, but soybean exports decreased for the third consecutive week. Wheat sales also increased this week rebounding from their second lowest level of the year reported last week. Corn sales decreased to their lowest level of 2015, and soybean sales declined as well.Truck drivers striking in Brazil is causing significant delays in soybean transportation. The drivers are protesting the price of fuel in Brazil by blocking roads and access to ports. The protest comes at a critical time for Brazilian farmers who are finishing their first season soybean crop and starting to plant the second season “Safrinha” crop. The lack of access to transportation as well as limited access to ports prevents operators from selling and delivering their grain.Weekly net corn sales were 715,900 metric tons (MT), a 23% decrease from last week and a 32% decrease from the prior 10-week average. Increases were reported from Japan, Colombia, Mexico, Algeria, and Peru. Decreases were reported from unknown destinations, South Korea, and Egypt. Exports were 865,100 MT, a 24% increase from last week and a 26% increase from the prior 10-week average. The primary destinations were Japan, Taiwan, Mexico, South Korea, and Algeria.Weekly net soybean sales were 459,200 MT a 9% decrease from last week and a 31% decrease from the prior 10-week average. Increases were reported from China, the Netherlands, Japan, Indonesia, and Mexico. Decreases were reported from unknown destinations and Singapore. Exports were 1,103,300 MT, a 19% decrease from last week and a 36% decrease from the prior 10-week average. Primary destinations were China, The Netherlands, Guatemala, Canada, and Japan.Weekly net wheat sales were 328,300 MT, a 23% increase from last week, but a 10% decrease from the prior 10-week average. Increases were reported from Japan, Indonesia, Canada, Mexico, and Algeria. Decreases were reported from unknown destinations. Exports were 493,900 MT, a 26% increase from last week and a 43% increase from the prior 10-week average.
